Dr. Harrahs Malinda

Dr. Malinda Harrahs Esther is the Coordinator of the Institute for Child Development at Daystar University. She holds a Doctorate degree in Education Science (Child Development) from the University of Osnabruck, Germany and a Master of Arts Degree in International Child Development and Welfare from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom.

She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Nairobi, a diploma in Project Management from Kenya Institute of Administration ( KIA), and a diploma in German Language from the Goethe Institute. She teaches in the areas of Child Development, Research Methods and Child Counselling.

Before Joining Daystar, she served as the Eastern Provincial Coordinator for the National Aids Control Council. She has been an effective consultant for strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation with PADEMA-Kenya (Participatory Development and Management Consultants) and has supported many organizations to backtrack their performance by facilitating strategic training, planning and development of performance standards and evaluation tools.
Dr. Malinda is currently spearheading a global initiative in Holistic Child Development. She is also the secretary of the African Holistic Child Development Consortium and a member of the Global Child Development Consortium. She is involved in Children Ministry and Youth leadership at both local and international levels. She serves as a Board of Governors member in various Child-care institutions and is an active member of Child Protection Networks including Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Athi –River District.
