Continued... The Child Development Programme is designed to help professionals in ministry to children to respond to children needs practically and holistically, by initiating community programs and advocating for their rights. Instruction in the Programme helps professionals in ministry to children to understand God’s heart for children and help them to grow and develop in a holistic way- enabling children to become what God wants them to be and awakening them to their full –potential. Training is God’s command to mankind. Deuteronomy 6: 6-8. affirms this. “These commands I give to you are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children”. Our courses in Child Development are designed to help our students to build the self -esteem of children, their self-confidence and increase their motivation, creativity, increasing their sense of responsibility especially in such areas as stewardship of talents, resources and opportunities, care for the environment and commitment to diligence and quality of work ethics. Through our training, professionals in ministry to children are able to make as much impact in their work with children through setting good example by word and deed. We train our students to teach, show, do activities and provide spiritual examples for children to model. We train our students to model Jesus in their work with children. Jesus clearly communicated messages by His own actions and attitudes, as well as by service to others ( John 9: 16-17). His words, come follow me in John 8:12, imply act on my example or model me. Another important aspect of our training is giving knowledge and skills to our students on how they can access needed resources in their work with children. These resources include local materials, goods and services, pastoral care and spiritual resources, advice, counseling, information. Our instruction aims to enhance the importance of different resources to build and develop children’s multiple intelligences through reading, writing, speaking, reasoning, drawing, sports, games, music, self reflection and mediation among others. Even in the area of resource linking, Jesus left us with examples that we emulate in our teaching. In Mathew 9: 35, 10:20, Jesus linked a resource –disciples-with the needs of the people of the towns. At the same time, the people of the towns had to use their resources to supply the disciple’s needs. We welcome you to train with us and experience what difference your gained knowledge, attitudes and values can make in the life of children at risk who are so valuable in God’s sight. |
