The School of Human and Social Sciences provides quality education and training to our clients. The school currently has three departments and one institute namely: Counseling Psychology and Child development, Development Studies and the Institute for Child Development.

The school seeks to inspire her students towards the highest standards and expectations through a stimulating and comprehensive educational program of intellectual and personal development. The school utilizes an integrative approach to faith and leaning which stimulates the acquisition of necessary competencies in working with families, communities and children. Students acquire key skills in communication, cognition, leadership and social skills.

The course offerings in the various disciplines in the school are carefully designed to give our students research-based knowledge relevant to ministry with families, community members and children. The various disciplines in the school strive to offer education that supports the student’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs. The courses serve to enhance professional development  that emphasize the relationships, competencies and knowledge Christian professionals  in the fields of  counseling, psychology, child development, social work and community development should have  to connect well with families, communities and children and to  serve  them well .

Our students benefit from an atmosphere of mutual support between themselves and the faculty in the school. This has helped create effective learning environment in the school Students are also given adequate opportunities for involvement in classroom activities.

Further the school’s faculty  is committed to facilitating professional growth and development of students who are knowledgeable and skilled to help, support and enhance learning and nurturing of children in an holistic manner ( physically, cognitively, socially and spiritually). We achieve this by offering progressive educational experiences and provision of forums for the discussion of issues related to children, childhood, mission and service and conducting academic forums that stimulate sharing of current issues affecting children across Africa.  The school also provides a broad range of facilities and  resources to assist her programs to maintain high standards and to continue to grow and make improvements.

In  addition to providing education to our students, the school of human and social sciences runs the Nuru Counseling to provide our students with  adequate preparation in dealing with psychiatric, cases and a great number of other types of psychopathology presenting  in children and adults. Students are able to understand the symptoms underlying clients difficulties, and  strategies to help clients look for a solution or a way to eliminate the difficulties in their lives. This really ensures the school is always implementing "best practices" in the fields of counseling, psychology and child development. Back
