Dr. Alice Munene is the current Dean, School of Human and Social Sciences. Dr. Munene holds a Psychology Doctorate degree from Rosemead School of Psychology in the  USA.

She has two Master of Arts degrees in Counselling Psychology and Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of psychology( USA) and USIU-Africa  respectively.

She also holds a Bachelor of  Education degree from the University of  Nairobi - Kenya. Dr. Munene is engaged in supervision of students at both PhD and Masters levels.

Dr. Munene has held high leadership positions at Daystar Univesity as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and as Head of the  the Department of Community Development. In addition, Dr. Munene has very impressive field based and professional experience and training  in Psychotherapy, Counseling and Strategic Planning among others. She is an exceptional counsellor and student mentor. She is a practicing clinical and counseling psychologist whose clinical practice extends to different  clientele presenting diverse  therapeutic issues  such as premarital, family,  adolescence, depression, personality, anger management, addictions, crisis and psychological disorders, children, interpersonal, depression.

Dr. Munene is involved  in diverse counseling activities  at both Church and communities. She is an effective children counsellor and family –reunion specialist.  Dr. Munene has attended and presented papers in local and international forums on diverse topics and issues including death and grief issues, guidance and counseling in Secondary Schools in Kenya, HIV and AIDS counseling, palliative care for the terminally ill patients, psychotherapeutic models of change, eye movement desensitization and processing (EMDR), art therapy, and chaplaincy training  among others.

Dr. Munene is a renowned speaker and has facilitated numerous seminars and workshops in many Churches and institutions of higher learning on diverse topics including stress Management, relationships, counseling skills, sexuality, marriage issues, women ministry, couples and single mothers’ role in the society.

 Dr. Munene is a curriculum development specialist. She has developed curriculum in the field of counseling for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Daystar University, and other institutions.  She has published on the Gospel and African Belief in Spirits and has also researched on the existing premarital counselling programmes in the USA for adoption in Kenya. Dr. Munene is an elder in her Church, Nairobi Pentecostal Church, Karen.

Her areas of interest include counseling needs assessments in Churches and communities, and integration of psychology and christianity.
